St. Petroc was a 5th-century Welsh monk who is said to have performed many miracles. He is the patron saint of Cornwall and his feast day is celebrated on June 1st. According to legend, he was born to a royal family but gave up his privilege to live a life of poverty and prayer. He is known for his work with the poor and sick, and is said to have even raised the dead. St. Petroc was an accomplished musician and is said to have played the harp. He also had a pet deer which he would often take with him on his travels. His messages of love and compassion continue to inspire people today. He was buried at Padstow.
