The clip on the back grips the hair tightly to prevent the hairslide from slipping out.

Lovely hair clip, the barette clip itself is sturdy and smooth, and the pewter knotwork is beautiful. It works well in my hair, which is naturally straight, fine and slippy, and there’s quite a lot of it now it’s passing mid-back length… This clip is perfect for holding it in an updo or simply clasped in a ponytail. It is not too heavy, but has a wee bit of substance to it, which I find helps keep my hair in place without dragging on my scalp. Thanks!
